What To Do

Famous Landmarks & Day Trips

To view the majestic stretch of 15 miles of untouched beach where wild horses roam free. Please take a trip down to the coast line of Tara Hill, you can access the coastal walking trails from any point along the road.
Tara Cove Beach stretches all the way to Cahore and on to Courtown where the famous Courtown Coast Guard has their headquarters.
For those interested in exploring the forest instead, Wicklow Mountain has hundreds of miles of hiking trails to visit the famous Glendalough statue that has stood since 600 BC. Don’t forget to visit the neighboring town of Avoca as well to see some traditional Irish woven goods at their mills.
A bit further out, is my favorite landmark, Hook Head Lighthouse. The oldest functioning lighthouse in the world this is all the way out at the furthest south point in Wexford situated on some of the most dangerous coast of Ireland. Fun fact: this lighthouse is where the famous saying
“By hook or by crook!” came from.

Eat, Drink & Shop

A little known fact of Gorey, it is actually one of Eastern Ireland’s destinations for shopping! Main St. of Gorey and all of its little side streets are peppered with tiny shops for anything you could possible imagine, from vintage goods, artwork & vinyl to boutiques with some of the best quality fashion outside of Manhattan. Chances are if you’ve seen something I’ve worn that you like— it’s from one of these clothing shops. Please visit my favorite little cafe at the edge town, Hungry Bear Cafe/ Restaurant for vegan treats and great cup of coffee. If you’re in the mood for a beautiful romantic dinner with a stunning view of the sprawling coastline, The Strand in Cahore is my favorite in all of Wexford. Don’t forget to make reservations well ahead of time, this place fills up! For a cheaper, more relaxed bite in the heart of Gorey, Katie Daly’s is fantastic, running a menu of local specials nightly. Live music is always at the heart of Ireland, lots of session or cover bands are constantly rotating at Paddy Blues walkable from the center of town.

Golf Courses

If you are staying in the Tara Hill area, Tara Hill, Tara Glen Golf & Country Club is a peaceful, serene course to travel to. This golf course is a deceptively challenging 9-Hole parkland course, with alternate tee-boxes in play, make sure to book far in advance, email : golf@taraglen.ie. Closer to Courtown area, we have the Courtown Golf Club, this is an 18-Hole parkland course with a Clubhouse and Restaurant on the grounds that is definitely of note. Lastly, a little further inland, we have the Ballymoney Golf Club, this is a very beautiful and very famous Golf Club that has been around for 30 years. Hint, hint — you may see a few stars or celebrities here. To book, fill out the submission form here, or email  info@ballymoneygolfclub.ie!
